What is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?
Developed by the LEGO® Group, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) is an effective method that emphasizes the “hand-brain” connection and can stimulate imagination and creativity. Our hands are connected to 70-80% of brain cells. When our hands build bricks, the nerves of the hands will help us use other parts of the brain to think, explore potential opportunities, visualize new concepts and solve complex problems. In addition, LSP is also an amazing tool that encourages idea expression, engagement and team communication.
Behind the Methodology
Build with Specific Bricks
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) has no assembly instructions. Based on the purpose, our facilitators design a unique roadmap for the workshop using the LSP principles and philosophy and use specially selected LEGO® bricks and parts to carry out the activities.
Get Creative with Metaphors
The generation of ideas relies on associative thinking. Building a 3D model using the LSP method is, in effect, building a metaphor for a related problem. Participants can systematically think, construct, explore and reflect in this process, thereby deepening their understanding of relevant issues, stimulating creativity and solving problems.
Hands-on, Brain-On
LSP emphasizes "hands-on" model building. Participants are required to assemble the bricks within a limited time. This rapid build process focuses on "actions". These actions magically create new connections between the nerves of the hand and the brain, which favours creativity and imagination.
Tell a Story
After a participant builds a model with LEGO® bricks, he needs to tell a story about the model. Facilitators will ask questions using the LSP method, allowing participants to think more deeply and share more about their creations.
